KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, was founded in Houston in 1994 to develop in underserved students the academic skills, intellectual habits, and qualities of character necessary to succeed at all levels of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, college,
and the competitive world beyond. KIPP has grown into a nationwide movement of more than 82 schools. KIPP Houston serves early childhood/elementary, middle school, and high school students with a growing family of schools.
